So. 

its been a while since ive bantered about this so incase it interests the internet, heres the updates on my project EH holden.

Its been in my possession since i was sixteen after i sold my honda civic shuttle. It was a move for the greater good as that last car was not really my style, more suited to a midget soccer mum.

I found the car on trademe and it was a project when i got it positioned on blocks. Pretty sure dad loathes the day i started asking him about it and showing interest in it (dads a mechanic and has been forced to spend more hours helping my on this than i’m sure he wished)  

When i got bought the car i was still at collage in school holidays working the info counter at the Warehouse. It was possibly the hight of my not giving a shit about life stage in my life, it was all good. 

When i got the car it hadn’t been started by the current owner, just rolled into place and put on blocks. The car was in a ok state but far from what it should have been, it was panel beaten by a idiot and painted far to soon. 

All in all that didnt really stop me, we called some contacts in the tow buissness and piggy backed a ride from out west back up north at the end of one of the drivers runs and with a garden hose, funnel and a bit of gas we had the thing running that night sans exasts manifolds and sounding like a boat, neigbours have never had it easy when i lived at the family house, between this thing and the bands etc.

Each day/evening before dad went to work consisted of him telling me what i needed to do that day to get the car closer to road legal and by the end of the school holidays(+one week) i had it on the road. Granted it was rough (no roof lining,carpet,door cards etc…was a literally rolling steel body), but it was on the road. Not to mention one of Orewa collages finest whips out side of the ‘dads merc’ circles.

So soon came the stages of rebuild while on the road, replacing rust as i needed and rebuilding a new motor until three years ago when the car was at a point where even dodgee warrants were no longer allowed on the car and it needed to be taken off the road to become what it is now.

So here it is, the body is now stripped back, repaired and ready for pick up by the car painter 

As the car is running on LPG, (due to the mods to the motor it runs pretty rugged on petrol) its kinda illegal to take the car to full up at the pumps at this stage in the project, hence why we have had to syphon gas the hard way in order for the painter to be able to move it round the shop. Tank to tank baby

And just for the fun heres a photo of a dusty engine bay, back when i was still in school i wasnt the smartest when it came to coin, we removed the 179ci (2.8ltr) that i could only just afford to run and replaced it with this, its the red 202ci (3.3ltr) motor with a yella terra high compression race head, XU1 race cam, 450 four barrel holly carb, extractors bolted to a 5 speed manual box. at the time i also wanted to do away with the rubbish and stripped all the battery and unnecessary items and moved them to the trunk, tho she looks like a dirty bitch you wont find to many 48 year olds with as much pull as her. 

And finally here are the door samples that the painter has given me, the car will be this green normally found on a 56 chev with a off white roof
